From sinopecnews, recently, the Sinopec styrene catalyst produced by the Shanghai Research Institute of Petroleum and Chemical Industry (hereinafter referred to as Shanghai Institute of Technology) and catalyst Shanghai Branch was first exported to Western Europe, and was applied on the Ineos Styrolution plant in Belgium at a capacity of 125,000 tons/year. The company is the world’s leading styrene supplier, the world’s largest manufacturer of styrene monomer, polystyrene and copolymers and the second largest ABS manufacturer.

The Shanghai Institute attached great importance to the technical service of catalyst loading and device driving. It dispatched two groups of scientific research personnel to the site to provide technical services. According to the catalyst loading plan provided by the Shanghai Institute, both sides refined the catalyst loading procedure and formulated a schedule for the loading work plan. With the close cooperation of field management and operation personnel, the catalyst loading work was successfully completed, fully demonstrating the technical service level of the Sinopec scientific research team.

Sinopec styrene catalyst has been applied on more than 20 sets of equipment in China, resulting in good economic and social benefits. In recent years, Sinopec styrene catalysts have been successively applied in many chemical companies in Taiwan, the Middle East and other regions. The successful application of styrene catalysts to Ineos Styrolution has created a strong emphasis for Sinopec Corp. to enhance product competitiveness and expand overseas markets. Shanghai Institute will continue to implement the requirements of the Group Corporation’s work conference and accelerate technology development and innovation, struggle to support and lead the comprehensive and sustainable development of Sinopec.
