On March 26, the Ministry of Commerce issued an announcement to investigate the anti-dumping investigation of imported phenol originating in the United States, the European Union, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand.

According to the announcement, the Ministry of Commerce received a formal anti-dumping investigation on behalf of the domestic phenol industry on February 2, 2018. The applicant requested anti-dumping investigations on phenol originating in the United States, the European Union, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand.

According to the relevant regulations, the Ministry of Commerce decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation against imported phenol originating in the aforementioned countries from March 26, 2018. The dumping investigation period was from October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017. The industrial damage investigation period was from January 1, 2014 to September 30, 2017.

According to the announcement, the survey began on March 26, 2018 and should normally be completed by March 26, 2019. In special circumstances, it may be extended to September 26, 2019.

Phenol is an important organic chemical raw material. It is mainly used for the preparation of phenolic resin, bisphenol A, caprolactam, alkylphenol, salicylic acid and other industrial raw materials. It can also be used as a solvent, reagent and disinfectant. It is widely used in synthetic fibers , plastics, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, spices, dyes, coatings, oil refining industries and other fields.
