According to Platts Energy News San Antonio on March 28, a buyer said on Sunday that the US propylene market is expected to be in surplus in 2018 and 2019, but by the early 2020s,with the impact of the production capacity of some new propylene derivatives, the supply of propylene in the United States will tend to be tight.

At the annual meeting of the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) held in San Antonio, people familiar with the matter said that at least five new-build propylene derivative units will be put into production in the United States in the next ten years, while only two new special-purpose propylene units will be put into operation in the same period.
